Rather than starting simply and proving their concepts, many entrepreneurs invest months that stretch into years building a convoluted business model.

You Don’t Have to Have Everything In Place to Start

There’s a mistaken belief that the way to start a new business is to have perfect business cards, a variety of polished marketing materials, an elaborate marketing plan, a complete social media marketing scheme, perfect keywords, finalized website, list generation tools, products to sell for passive income, merchant accounts, and ability to take credit cards, the perfect legal entity, and whatever else a business could possibly need.

You don’t have to start out with all this in place. You’d be gambling massive amounts of work, effort, and money on an unproven business. It’s fairly common for new business owners to spend considerable work and time, and never launch the business, attract any clients, or make any money.

It seems that we’ve all bought into the idea that business start-ups require ALL THIS before you can be in business. That’s a mistake. It’s too easy to sit in the house and keep twiddling and fiddling, preparing to launch a business – all the time actually avoiding doing any business at all.

Keep It Simple To Start

Start simple and prove your concepts first. Tweak your business model as you go. Have financial success before you invest additional time and resources into the business. Don’t get all sorts of expensive marketing materials, until you know your business is viable. Don’t pile marketing strategy on top of marketing strategy until you’ve got a regular stream of paying clients. Don’t spend all your time learning about social media marketing, keywords, and the latest technologies when no real business is happening.

Start Simply and Build Your Future Business Empire From That

What is the barest strategy you can start with to try out your ideas and what is the most direct way you can execute it? What single service can you start with? There’s nothing wrong with this being the core strategy of what you hope will be your future “empire”. Business empires do grow from humble beginnings. Start simple and add complexity as it makes financial sense. When you start simply, you can build a solid foundation for that empire – as the business grows.

What Is Your Simple Starting Point Strategy?

Of all your grand ideas, where is the simple starting point? What should be the focus of your immediate and short-term (up to two years) activity? What do you want to be the foundational strategy for your business? What would be the easiest way to start the business – with the least risk and the best likelihood of quick and reasonable success. Don’t fantasize about becoming a millionaire in two weeks. Choose activity you LOVE doing.

Keep your startup strategy simple. Get out there and make the business happen before you get complicated.

Every month, Google alone receives over 31 billion searches which means that on average, Google receives 1 billion searches a day and that is 1,000,000,000 searches each and everyday on just Google alone. That amounts to over 40 million searches inside of one hour and just under a million searches a minute or rather 700,000 searches per minute. About 12,000 searches are conducted in one second and in the time it took me to compile this first paragraph, about two or three minutes, 3 million people have used the Google search engine.

We can say that a moderate figure of about a few hundred people will in any likelihood be, after every single second, searching for what you are selling. This will not stop after that second, but will go on for the whole day for 24 hours, for seven days a week, for the whole month and for the 365 days of the year.

If you can get a fraction of these people to buy what you are selling at least every week, for example get a fraction of the seven billion people who conduct a search online every week looking for what you are selling, how much would you in all probability make in sells? I’d say that you would make a fortune.

If 0.0005 people bought what you are selling, you would have a 35,000 total in weekly sells. Let as assume that you were selling whatever it is you were selling for about $7. That would make you a weekly sell worth $245,000 and a monthly sell of just about $1,000,000 worth. While these figures are just projections based on actual statistical data available online, the important question is how many of the seven billion people actually get to see your website?

Well the answer is probably nearly not enough. So why do you think that is? The simple answer is that you are probably not visible online. It’s good to be dead level, if you are not known online, you will achieve nothing and search engine optimization is the foolproof way to achieve visibility online.

You must get your target market to see what you offer them by generating traffic towards your site. Your target market or target audience is the classification of online customers that are in need of the product that you are selling online. When you know your target market, you need to know how to reach them.

Search engine optimization places you at a level where you are visible to the people who are looking for exactly what you are selling. Creating online visibility through search engine optimization will decisively impact on how well you are able to sell online and the options for this are limitless just as the internet is.

Search engines are the most common methods used to locate a product or service anywhere globally. When your website is designed using search engine optimization, it will get its way to the top of the search engines. A higher search ranking always improves the visibility of your website and gives you a platform to present your products or services to your clients.

A website that looks great is wonderful. But that is not enough to draw customers to it. More is required and this is where search engine optimization comes in. It is very simple actually. The vast majority of internet users search for products, services and information with the help of search engines such as Google, yahoo, MSN, Bing and other search engines. The higher your website achieves visibility on these search engines, the more people who get to know that your business exists and they more likely you are to get more business coming in.

Do you want to achieve greater results online? It is time to make your website search engine friendly. It is believed that if your website cannot appear on the first three pages of Google’s search engine, it probably does not exist. It might exist alright but to the internet world, it simply does not have an online presence.

When you make any attempt to enhance visibility for your website, we call that Search Engine Optimization (SEO). On-site SEO is the process of improving your website and off-site SEO is the promotion of the website. When you engage the services of search engine optimizers, they will work at getting your website to high ranks in the search engine result pages (SERP). But search engine optimization is not just for the purpose of improving the rankings of your website’s visibility but is also works to give your website greater volume of quality traffic from the search engines through what is called organic or algorithmic

A website that has been optimized for search engines will always generate more internet traffic and this will enable the business to get more leads and which will turn into sales and thus bring in more revenue for the business. Administering search engine optimization services and hiring an SEO company to deal with complicated internet marketing approach to business will give a business the competitive advantage that will bring them to the top of the business world.

While this may seem like it is easier said than done, there is more to it. It is true that you need to hire an SEO company to help you attain top ranks in most of the search engines by giving you more visibility and by doing so you get more business coming to you. But the idea of SEO is not just to improve the visibility of your website but to increase the visibility and give your website a greater volume of quality traffic from the search engines through what is called organic or algorithmic search results as contrasted to search engine marketing (SEM) which is more of an arrangement where you pay to be included in the search engines.

Studies have proved that organic search engine optimization strategies are not only much more cost effective as compared to paid advertising, but they are also a more effective tool for online marketing in the long run. When you hire an SEO company, you leave it to the experts who are experienced in putting into practice SEO techniques to achieve the desired results for your website.

Any business that wants to develop a consolidated online presence through internet marketing will need to hire the services of professional SEO. The SEO service will come in and work with you to create a strategy that will promote your business while giving you a regular update through well kept reports and details that will keep you abreast of the progress your site is making.

SEO services are able to analyze your website and provide you with market intelligence that will provide you with valuable and timely to keep you on top of your competition. The research work that they carry out will help you remain consistently on top of the search engine rankings. Through a unique traffic generator, there are changes that are done to the content and the code of the website so that the websites dominance in the Search Engine Result Pages (SERPs) and directories is improved. Thus the content and the code of the website are edited to improve its visibility in one or many search engines.

Search engine optimization is thus the collective terminology that is used in the search engine industry that is connected with the act of directly or indirectly enhancing the position or the ranking of a website so as to cause more traffic that will result in business to come to it. Any process that makes an attempt to influence the visibility of a website or any attempt to give a website a more prominent search engine organic ranking with a view to drive traffic to the website through natural listings or rankings is called Search engine optimization (SEO).

For many the fear of failure is enough to hold them back from taking the chance at starting their own small business; however, with careful planning and some luck a small business will be set for success.

When starting a small business it is important to step back and decide what exactly the company will be focusing on. What type of products or services will it be providing and to what group or niche will the company be aiming towards as its target audience. This seems like a simple enough step however many people many people either try to cater to too broad of an audience or to too small of a group. Although trying to appeal to a large audience may sound great at first, it can be harmful for a small business. Trying to cater to a broad spectrum of people makes the company lose focus and ultimately lose its identity. Targeting too small of an audience is a problem simply because a small target group makes for a small population of potential customers.

Another thing to consider is the supply and demand of the market that the company will be focused on. A company will need to either be excellent at what it does, very unique in what it does, and most importantly lucky to succeed let alone survive. Choosing a market that is largely in demand and short in supply will increase a company’s chance of survival immensely. The opposite can be said for a market that is low in supply and large in demand. Try to study where current business trends are headed towards and what is needed or wanted by today’s consumers. Also, it is important when looking at trends to try and think about its long term viability. The last thing that you want to do is start a business based on a fad that is over within a year or two.

When a general direction is decided for your small business, it is important to then think about the things that your company will do better than your competition. What will make you unique? What will make people choose your products and services over anyone else’s? Most importantly, is there something that will make people choose you over your competition? There is definitely a problem if the last question was met with hesitation or a no. There needs to be something that sets your company apart from the rest and pulls you out from the mold of every other business.

Finally when all of that is set, it is important to think of how you will get your name out to your consumers. Marketing and advertisement are crucial in getting your business known to your audience especially at the start of your business. If it’s possible getting a public relations firm to help market your name will help immensely.

Professional networking events present opportunities to interact with others on a personal level and to develop profitable relationships. These occasions are critical for anyone who wants to grow a business or promote a career.

Many people are simply not comfortable walking into a room full of strangers and striking up conversations. Here are five common stumbling blocks that you may face and tips to help you overcome them.

A RELUCTANCE TO TALK TO STRANGERS. You were taught at an early age not to speak to people you don’t know. It’s not safe. In certain situations today this is still good advice. In business, however, talking to strangers is a way to generate interest and support for your products and services. If you only talk to the people you already know, you will miss out on opportunities to make new connections and establish valuable contacts.

To get past your discomfort in talking to strangers, set a goal for yourself before you attend any networking event. Decide how many new contacts you want to make or how many strangers you want to meet. In some cases, you may specifically target individuals whom you’d like to know.

Next come up with some icebreakers or conversation starters. Have questions prepared that you can ask anyone you meet at the event. You may want to inquire about other people’s business, their connection to the sponsoring organization or their opinion of the venue.

LACK OF A FORMAL INTRODUCTION. It’s much easier to make a new contact when there is someone else to handle the introduction and pave the way. If you wait for another person to make the move you may not meet anyone. At networking events, the goal is to meet as many people as possible.

This is the time to take the bull by the horns, walk up to people you don’t know, introduce yourself and start a conversation. You can do this if you have prepared your self-introduction in advance.

You will not introduce yourself the same way on every occasion. Perhaps it is your first time to attend an association meeting. In that case, you might want to say that as part of your introduction. Let people know who you are, why you are there and give them a reason to ask more abut you.

FEAR OF BEING SEEN AS PUSHY. You may think that you will turn people off if you are assertive and that if they want to talk to you, they will make the first move. If this is your line of thinking you will find yourself spending your time alone at the reception or meeting function and leaving without a single new connection. Being open, friendly and interested does not turn people off.

You will not come across as overly aggressive if you seek out the “approachable” people. These are the ones who are standing alone or who are speaking in groups of three or more. Two people talking to each other are not approachable because they may be having a private conversation and you would be interrupting.

THINKING THAT OTHER PEOPLE MAY NOT LIKE YOU. There is always the risk that the other person is not interested in you and doesn’t want to meet or talk to you. It happens. If that is the case, don’t take it personally. Nothing ventured is nothing gained. When you get a cold shoulder, smile, move on and say to yourself, “Next?”

HAVING YOUR INTENTIONS MISUNDERSTOOD. Approaching someone of the opposite sex to begin a conversation may seem more like flirting than networking. This is more of an issue for women than men. Women have an equal place in the work arena and need to make professional connections the same as men do. Women in business can no longer afford to hold back when there is opportunity at hand.

Neither men nor women will have their motives misinterpreted if they present themselves professionally in their attire and if they keep the conversation focused on business issues or topics that are not personal or private.

Whatever your stumbling blocks, face them before the next networking event and devise a personal plan for getting past them. Once you do, you will find yourself connecting with confidence and courtesy on every occasion and the results will be reflected in your bottom line.

Supply a topnotch product… let your customers know how advantageous your brand is… and provide exceptional service.
Do that and you’ll encourage customers to willingly send their families, friends, acquaintances, and business associates your way.

There’s no easier sale than the sale made to a “pre-sold” prospect. This kind of favorable condition can only arise as a result of the shared enthusiasm from another delighted buyer. Word-of-mouth advertising generates top quality referrals. As a marketing tool, it simply can’t be beat. Word of mouth promotion cannot be purchased for any amount of money… it can only be earned.

Referrals happen when one friend willingly shares information with another. What makes referrals so effective is that no true friend would recommend a business, service, or product that they didn’t completely approve of themselves.

The foundation for building your business with referrals is a solid product or service — one that not only meets, but exceeds your advertising claims. One way to achieve customer satisfaction is to “under promise” and “over deliver”.

It doesn’t mean you should weaken your advertising materials. Simply focus on providing more for you customers – more than you promise. That’s another formula for success. People are always thrilled to get a little something extra with a purchase they’re already happy about.

Write powerful sales copy that clearly positions your product as the overwhelming favorite. Make a huge promise… and deliver even more.

Treat your customers as the most important component of your business. Customers are vital to your success – even to your very existence. People want to be treated fairly, with respect, and courtesy. The golden rule still applies – treat people the same way you like to be treated. Remember, nobody likes to wait beyond a reasonable amount of time for an order to be filled.

When you get in the habit of delighting customers, you’ll find that people are only too happy to tell others. As word spreads about your product or service, you’re business is propelled to new heights.

Your success in business is predicated on your ability to satisfy customers, and to continuously grow your customer base. In all your communications with customers, you need to encourage them tell others about all the benefits your product or service offers.

Let loyal buyers know that you’re always seeking new customers. Remind readers that you’ve built your business by thoroughly satisfying customers and having those customers tell others in turn.

Ask buyers if they know anyone who would like and could benefit from your catalog. As soon as a name is provided, fire off an information package… and send a thank you note to the customer who fed you the lead. Referrals make it easy to grow your business.

Provide discount cards for new customers. Offer a 10% to 15% discount on their first purchase and then make these available to your existing customers for distribution to others. Give them an extra reason for handing these discount coupons out.

Offer points towards free gifts, free premiums, for each discount coupon redeemed, or simply acknowledge them as a “builder” of your organization, complete with their picture and certificate, proudly displayed for all to see.
The best way to get customers to refer others is “in the moment” — when they’re still enamored with your product or your high level of personal service.

While customers are enjoying these positive emotions about your company, that’s the time to ask for a little favor. Ask… “Is there someone else you know, who might want to… grow their business by 37%this year? … get that older car looking showroom-clean? … transform any weed-filled lot into a lush green lawn and garden?

Simply fill in the end of the sentence with the big benefit you’ve just delivered on. Plant the seed of referrals and referrals will come your way.

The Small Business Administration estimates there are 580,900 new small businesses opening each year and that number does not include the small one-person entrepreneurships that pop up every day. However even if you are your business’s sole employee then there is still something to be learned from the SBA’s numbers.

According to the SBA, two-thirds of new businesses survive at least two years and 44 percent survive at least four years. Two of the key factors in the businesses survival and ability to thrive: the owner’s education level and the owner’s reason for starting the firm in the first place.

How can you make sure that you are among the winners rather than the losers in this high stakes game? The answer is inside of you. You must ask yourself four key questions to determine whether your own small business will survive and thrive.

1. Are You Ready

Have you mentally prepared yourself for the switch from employee (or student or whatever label fits you currently) to boss. You are going to be the one making decisions now about everything from office products to product line. This total control is one of the driving forces behind many people who take the plunge into starting their ownbusiness but it is also one of the elements that drives new entreprenurs crazy. When you start out there is an endless list of decisions that need to be made and new questions crop up every day.

Even more important you will need to remember that in a small business you will wear many hats. Even if you manage to start out with one or more employees you will each fulfill more than one role in your new business. And if you are running a one-man or one-woman show then you serve in every capacity from file clerk to maintenance crew to salesman to CEO. Can you handle switching from task to task and role to role like that? Are you willing to make those switches?

Similarly, have you prepared your family and friends for this switch in attitude. Your life is going to change — probably pretty drastically — and that change can have a positive or negative impact on your family life and social interactions. It will make things much easier if your friends and family are supportive going into the process.

2. Where Is Your Niche?

Have you identified your niche yet? One of the reasons many businesses fail is that they fail to focus on a target audience. Yes if you are a major discount chain then you can sell everything from peanuts to wallpaper but this type of business requires vast resources that just aren’t available to the small business. But small businesses dominate the marketplace (creating more than 50 percent of the private gross domestic product last year) by finding a different approach — a niche.

Knowing your niche means you are better able to find, target, and maintain your customers as well as provide the best possible goods and services to that customer base. That focus is one of your best chances to not only survive but to thrive in a very competitive marketplace.

3. What Is Your Plan Of Action?

Another key factor in the survival and ultimate success of your business is how much planning you do before you open your electronic or physical doors. You need to decide if your business will be based on the internet or include more traditional models. Are you going to work full-time or part-time at your new business? Are you going to hire help or go solo? Have you written (or at least outlined) your business plan? Dreaming, thinking and planning can save you much trouble and waste later when things are hectic and problems strike. Planning can also help keep you focused and to balance your spending and time.

4. Who Are You Going To Call?

At some point, no matter how experienced a business person you are, you will need help. You will need support, advice, tools, or information — or all of the above. One of the beautiful, and most frightening, aspects of growth is that it can lead you to places you never imagined. No matter how much planning and experience you bring to your new position as CEO the unexpected will arise. How will you cope with this? It is important to recognize that no business is an island. It is not failure to seek help. Failure is when your business shuts down because you didn’t get the help you needed.

The best way to get timely help is to work on your support system while you work on building your business. That way you will already have a ready list of resources available that you can quickly tap into when emergencies strike. In today’s world there are many marvelous resources available to you no matter what your business model may be. These include:

	~ Publications (newsletters, magazines, books)
~ People (professional advisors, mentors, teachers, consultants)
~ Networks (organizations and forums in your niche as well as general business and marketing)
~ Education and training (tutorials, courses, and seminars)

After you have answered these four key questions you are now ready to ask yourself that one big question again — are you ready to start your own business?

Businessmen will perhaps do anything just to achieve the ultimate goal of having a business, and that is to earn income. Net profit or income financially means a surplus of sales or revenues after deducting costs and expenses. Whether you are engage in profession, occupation, work or trade, you are in business and you speak income. When you earn an income you suffer taxes, the worst nightmare for every income earners. Income tax is your punishment of doing well in business. This sounds ridiculous but this is the reality, you pay when you earn. Because tax is legislative, noncompliance to this would results to crimes. This thing called income tax had already made billions of liars around the world. Some governments imposed taxes which are already too much to burden the flow of business. Others make tax laws that are already beyond the ability of taxpayers. However these facts must not result in the existence of enormous number of dishonest people in the world.

Ethics in business rarely exists nowadays. Perhaps it is because for most people, profit will come without the need of business ethics. This, I don’t agree. The word ethics is derived from the Greek word ethos, which means “character,” and from the Latin word mores, which means “customs.” According to the encyclopedia ethics is the branch of philosophy that defines what is good for the individual and for society and establishes the nature of obligations, or duties, that people owe themselves and one another. Maybe ethics is not needed to earn profit if you define profit or income as money. But deeply speaking, business is not just for money. Yes it is definitely for profit, but profit is not just financial profit. We need profit that will not just sustain our pocket or our stomach. Significantly, we also need profits that will feed our hearts and soul. Considering that we are great businessmen, we should extend our minds to this principle. We need business ethics to earn these high valued profits. We must be concerned to the virtue of our character and to the common good.

Your business is not just for the survival of your life on Earth but it can also be your road to the survival of your soul. If you’re in business and had a company, you can help your employees by providing them enough salaries and other benefits that will make their lives better. You can be honest and pay your exact tax for the government who will eventually use it for your country’s development. (Assuming your government is straight and not corrupt) But don’t mind them, be honest even others are not. We are talking here your soul survival and not theirs. You can also serve your customers by providing them their needs and giving them convenience. Customer care is so important for your customers as also important for your business to earn public trust and loyalty. If you build infrastructures for your company you contribute to the development of your place in terms of buildings and infrastructures. When you got ethics in business you practice fair business competition. Fair business competition is a challenge for every business to improve the qualities of their products and services, and the end benefits are to the consumers.

Doing business with clean conscience is doing business with good night sleeps. It is also doing business with gladness of your heart and soul. Gratitude will come to you and you will become a stress free businessman if you do business with ethics. These and other spiritual profits will straightly come to you and the good thing on this is you are not taxed on this kind of profits. As an extraordinary businessman, you do not only set your long-term goals for 10 years or for a life time. You must also consider eternity and set goals to achieve profits that will benefit your soul. You need profits that last forever, profits that will give us everlasting life and happiness, and profits that will earn us the key to heaven. These profits will benefits us in the short run, midterm run, long run and eternal run, as God is great from the beginning and unto the never-ending.

Do business and believe in God. Building our business in God’s place is like building it in rocks which are in great foundations. Let us be kind and grateful to our employees as they are our best assets. Let’s give them bread and they will give us a ham sandwich. Let us have huge care to our customers as they are our best revenue generators. Let’s give them good price, high quality products and best services and they will give us their respect and loyalty. Let us be fair to our competitors as they are our great motivators. Let us give them fair game and they will give us the true meaning of winning. Let us be thankful to our Father Almighty God as He is our greatest business partner. Let’s serve Him and He will give us joy and peace of mind.

I hear the term “Virtual Assistant” more and more in business. Did you know that you could possibly hire someone from another continent that works while you sleep and maybe for $8 – $12 Dollars. Mos t of the VA’s I work with have degrees and one an MBA in Business Admin. I pay her a pautry $15.00 per hour and what a bargain that is.

With the growth of virtual assistants has also been a change in what it means to be a virtual assistant. The leaders and founders of this particular entrepreneurial job have made distinctions between what it means to be a virtual assistant, and what it doesn’t mean. When you are explaining your business to others, you want to make sure to keep this standard.

Being a virtual assistant is becoming a distinct definition of a specific home owned business. It is expected that the standards will be upheld of a virtual assistant for all others who are working in this profession. This means that a virtual assistant is someone who provides a variety of services to businesses and individuals following the standard that has become formalized in the past decade.

The first angle that is taken towards approaching what a virtual assistant is includes the idea of being virtual. If you are not working out of your home, or remotely, then you are not considered a virtual assistant. Instead, it is considered to be a temporary job or a telecommuting job. One of the standards for being a virtual assistant is having the freedom to work where you want.

The second part to being a virtual assistant is the distinction that is made in the job description. Most virtual assistants will cringe at the idea of being called a secretary or freelance worker. Technically, a freelance worker is one who only does the job for extra income. At the same time, a secretary is one who doesn’t do the work continuously with only one client. A virtual assistant is provided in order to create a substantial and long term relationship with a business.

Here are 5 things you should consider in a Virtual Assistant?

1. Professionalism. Does the VA answer her or his emails, voicemails and other correspondence in a timely and professional manner? It is important if this person is to work for you has the right skills to not keep you or a deadline waitng. Make sure you give a covert task to her or him to pass that shows comittment to deadlines.

2. Project Management. Juggling tasks nowadays is vital. We now tap out feet in front of the microwave so things need to get done. If a person cannot work with a few projects on the go you might want to move on. I guarantee you will only find out that they have a project management problem when you lose “the big deal”.

3. Availability. Many of these people work for several people at the same time. It is not uncommon for you as an employer to be in a funnel system for the VA. You slowly move down the funnel as they take on better contracts from new virtual employers. Be aware that you and your project will get dropped at the most time you least need it. You also need to be lining up new VA’s. Try to split your work between 2 or more VA’s to combat this problem.

4. Test. Give the VA a mini project before going ahead with a contract. I also give a minimum of 2 tasks that cost no more than $30 -$40 to complete. I need them done correctly and to my total satisfaction before I even consider this person. It is simple to hire one of the first few people to come along but please shortlist at least 10 and give the tasks to 2 of the 10 you shortlisted. Obviously make sure these tasks are something you actually want doe, dont waste any money.

5. Get References. Can the VA give you a list of people whom you can contact who will tell you about working with her or him?

The main distinction that most virtual assistants will work towards creating is the idea of being in a relationship with a business, and making this their business. This goes beyond the Expectations of any temporary work or telecommuting job. It also means that the services a virtual assistant can provide will go outside of job descriptions that are made in the office. By understanding the standards for being a virtual assistant, you can best approach this in your own relationships with businesses.

In this article we’ll talk about how to establish an income with affiliate programs.

Affiliate programs (in addition to being called Referral Programs or Partnership Programs) are fundamentally commission-based sales strategies. You advocate a web site to your users and receive a share from any purchases those users produce. You profit from the commission and the web site benefits by making sales it would not otherwise have earned. If you have ever gone to a website and come across links to Amazon, those were affiliate links.

You could campaign a affiliate program from a web site you have already set up, or make a web site especially to advertise a product or service. As long as it takes in more cash than you expend on establishing them and purchasing traffic, you’re happy.

Affiliate advertisements work in two manners: you are able to join them to produce income, or you are able to operate one to pull in users.

- Linking up to an Affiliate Program

As with any commercialising venture, you need to becareful in the choice of an associate program. The benefit from a affiliate program is that it generates additional ways to produce income from your users. Rather than selling them a product yourself, you direct them to a partner and acquire a percentage.

On the downside though, your affiliate advertisements will take up the position of another advert that you might have placed. You have to be sure that all promoting placements on your web site are pulling in the greatest income achievable. Whenever you are not generating the most from your web site, you are flipping income aside.

The key to success is to select the proper program, correctly from the “get-go”.

At present, numerous commercial sites operate affiliate programs. That’s because they recognise that they only have to give a commission whenever a sale is actually produced; it is a established formula to generate income without jeopardy. What that entails for you is that once it amounts to selecting an affiliate program, you are going to have a vast range to choose from. What it entirely comes down to though is product and cost.

Although it could be tempting to go for the program that gives the greatest commissions, the program will not give you a cent if your users will not go there or will not purchase when they arrive there. You have to be sure that the service you are advertising is of actual interest to the sort of users you purchase, whether you are buying them from SEs or anyplace else.

Sure enough, you are able to work backwards: You discover a high-paying affiliate program and make a small-scale web site to direct users to it, but do you know where to purchase users for a program like that? You are going to have to research the field of operation, suss out the most best-selling sites, and negotiate banner campaigns and link up exchanges.

That’s very well if you prefer to invest the time and the effort.Simply it is very much less complicated to ascertain an affiliate program operating in a subject area you are acquainted with, and apply that program to gain additional cash.

For instance, say you had established a dating web site. You could produce a little bit of income marketing subscriptions, but you could produce even more by joining Match.com’s affiliate program and selling them your users. Unless you are planning to equal the web’s largest dating web site, you are not going to be fit to contend directly and beat them, but you are able to join them-and generate money.

Or instead of selling your users directly to a ‘challenger’, you could see for services that complement your own. Visitors to your dating web site, for instance, could be interested in purchasing flowers, books on relationships or tickets on singles cruises. As an alternative from selling only one product-membership subscriptions-you’d be marketing a complete range of assorted goods to the same people, and maximising the sources of your revenue.

Here are a few hints to choosing an affiliate program that is profitable and correct for you:

* Do not take lower than 25% commission. You’ll be able to obtain affiliate programs with great payment structures and high percentages of the purchase price in almost every field.

* Look for across-the-board statistics pages that broadcast the amount of click-throughs, gross sales and net profit so you are able to check how you are getting along. The data should be analyzed by month.

* Look for programs that offer up a comprehensive assortment of promotional tools to place on your Web page, including text hyperlinks, banners and artwork.

* Ascertain how frequently you’ll be paid and be sure that the payment agenda matches your expectations. Numerous programs pay each month, others every quarter; which is most beneficial for you?

* Look for cases of marketing techniques that successful affiliates are applying to have the best final results.

* Make certain that top-ranking support is established. If they can not answer your inquiries quickly and intelligently, you do not want to work with them.

Affiliate programs provide a feasible resolution to competing against bigger competitors and still produce income. As the saying goes, if you can’t beat them, joint them!

E-Newsletters, done correctly, are a creative, non-aggressive method of reaching your current clients and building your prospect base at little or no cost. They not only provide useful information to subscribers on a consistent basis but they are a valuable marketing tool that allows you to enter their lives regularly, to get your name, and products or services, in front of them without the heavy sell.

The following pages contain a list of ‘must haves’ from the beginning to the end of your newsletter, and everything in between.

First and foremost, your E-Newsletter must have a:

1.	SUBJECT LINE

Your newsletter’s headline, otherwise known as the subject of the e-mail, is responsible for 50-75% of its success. Other than whom the e-mail is from, it is what your reader sees first. Without a successful headline, your e-mail is destined for the trash can and you’ve missed a golden opportunity to reach clients and prospects with your message.

Writing a good headline is tricky and something people spend years learning and practicing. That being said, there are a few keys to a successful headline that I’d like to share with you.

● Appeal to your reader’s self interest.
Provide a benefit to your reader and make it personal to your audience of clients and prospects. Example: “10 Ways To Increase Your Portfolio Earnings Overnight.” This type of headline might work for a financial investment firm, or an accountant. A headline can be tailored to any industry and what your readers are interested in.

● Make it Newsworthy
Headlines using the words ‘new’, ‘now’, ‘finally’, ‘announcing’, and ‘latest’ give the reader a sense of newsworthiness. “New Soil Conditioner Increases Plant Life By 10%.” This headline is both newsworthy and it appeals to the reader’s self interest-assuming that the newsletter is going to clients of a nursery, florist and the like and not to an automotive repair shop!

● Appeal to the reader’s emotions.
Fear, Pride, Insecurity, Curiosity, Love, Happiness, Boredom, Laziness, and
Altruism are among many of the emotions that you can use to motivate your reader to open your newsletter. “How To Ask Your Boss For A Raise,” would be good headline for a staffing company. It appeals to the reader’s curiosity. Another curiosity driven headline might be “10 Questions You Should Never Ask A Prospective Client.”

One last thing to remember about Headlines: make them believable. Nothing gets deleted faster than an outrageous and unbelievable headline.

2.	VOLUME NUMBER AND A DATE.

It may seem obvious, but one thing that is consistently overlooked in E-Newsletter publication is the volume number and date. Every newsletter that you send should have a volume number and a date to be consistent. Consistency is key to establishing yourself and your company as a reliable and credible source of information and the kind of company that your customers will return to time and again.

Additionally, by providing a consistent publication date, and volume, you give your readers a method to archive and/or search when they’re hunting through old issues for the amazing content that you’ve supplied them.

By organizing your newsletters by volume and date, you also make it easier to track each issue’s effectiveness.

3. THEME

Each newsletter that you put out to the world should have a consistent theme running throughout. Regardless if you have one article or ten, they should be linked with your theme-and your theme should be referenced in the headline.

A doctor’s office might run an issue with the theme of fighting the flu just before flu season. The newsletter might contain articles pertaining to it like diet, supplementation, and inoculations etc. Similarly, they could offer a theme on allergies in early spring.

A restaurant might highlight specific ingredients, time saving tips in the kitchen, or upcoming seasons and holidays. The articles could reference menu items or recipes that they use as a marketing tie in.

An Auto repair shop might address tune ups in one issue and preparing for summer vacations in the next. They could talk about braking-how to brake, different types of brakes, when to replace brakes, common problems with brakes etc…

You’re getting the picture. CPA firms, printers, transportation companies, every industry has a specific client population with specific needs and interests. If you have a new product, how that product integrates into your customer’s lives could be a theme-say a commercial construction company provides installation of a new type of roofing–there’s the theme for the newsletter. Themes are easy to come by; the trick is sticking to them.

4.	INFORMATION

Your newsletter must contain useful information. Content Is Key! Even if your newsletter contains an editorial piece, you need to give your readers something valuable.

We’re a nation hungry for information. Non-fiction consistently outsells fiction in the bookstores and ease of information is in high demand. As far as information goes—Nothing Is Better Than Free, Helpful Information Delivered To You On A Consistent Basis!

According to an article recently published by the Newsletter & Electronic Publishers Association www.newsletters.org —“Publishers need high-value content to reach readers and advertisers. ……editorial quality is just as important for a free newsletter as it is for a subscription newsletter. ……advises publishers to talk with their user base at all times, survey readers and know their needs.

This quotation ties in to the next E-Newsletter necessity:

5.	An Option for Reader Feedback

An option for reader feedback in a newsletter is a good way to build your community and to add content to the publication. It not only lets you know what the readers are responding to in your newsletter but it encourages reader participation and people, whether they admit it or not, like to see their name in print.

A simple feedback form occasionally included in the newsletter or a more consistent ‘Dear Abby’ type column where readers ask questions and you (as the expert) answer them, is the easiest way to include this feature into your publication.

6.	AN OFFER

Besides endearing your clients and prospects to you and your company, the main purpose of an E-Newsletter is to build your business or in other words, SELL.

Don’t let a single issue go by without some kind of offer; a click through to your web site, a coupon, a new product for sale in your store or on your website, an inside sale.

Tie the offer in to your theme and with a good headline, you have a sure hit! Let’s go back to our very first headline “10 Ways To Increase Your Portfolio Overnight.” Let’s assume that the newsletter is from a team of financial advisors.

The broad theme is increasing your portfolio; let’s assume that one of the methods of increasing it is to invest in pharmaceuticals. The offer might be a seminar/webinar/teleseminar on investing in pharmaceuticals. The options are endless to present this product.

Basic clicks through to your website for more information, a ‘click here to register’ type of option, or a registration form right in the newsletter are just some of the possibilities.

7.	LINK TO YOUR WEBSITE

Again, the reason for your newsletter is to sell your product or service. If you don’t have at least one link to your website then you’re not giving the newsletter the chance to do its job.

If you don’t have a website-GET ONE!

No matter what your business, a web presence is a necessity for your business to grow and a courtesy to your clients. From basic business information like hours and staff information to newsletter archives and products, a website gives your customers a place to go when they’re not with you. To put it simply, a web presence expands and embraces your customer community and it provides one more way to build your current client base.

Links to your website in your newsletter provide not only a tool to sell but they’re also great tools for realizing the effectiveness of your website. They’re measurable.

8.	VIRAL MARKETING

Viral marketing is a term used by marketing specialists which simply means encouraging current customers and prospects to share your message with their colleagues and friends.

Viral Marketing is FREE FOR YOU. A simple message consistently included in each and every newsletter, preferably in the same place each time, that encourages recipients to forward your newsletter to friends, family, and colleagues is all you need. The bonus is that there is an implied endorsement of your services to recipients of your forwarded newsletter.

9.	AN OPT-OUT

While an E-Newsletter is a great source for building your opt-in database, you MUST provide your recipients an option to opt-out. No one likes to be trapped into receiving an unwanted e-mail.

A simple “Click here to unsubscribe” will suffice.

Be sure to make good on all opt-out requests to avoid angering and alienating clients and prospects.

10. SIGNATURE

An E-Newsletter signature isn’t your signed name at the bottom of each publication, though it can be. In direct mail, a signature is your company information and a possible disclaimer listed at the bottom of the page. Think ‘footer’, if you’re familiar with word processing. A signature could look something like this:

All material on this site is provided for information only and may not be construed as a guarantee of earnings. No action should be taken based solely on the contents of this information; instead, readers should implement the given information in order to produce similar results.

It is important to have a signature for several reasons:

1.	Consistency
2.	Ease of use. If the reader prints out the newsletter then your contact information is readily available.
3.	Professional appearance.
4.	Another opportunity for your client/prospect to contact you by clicking on your web link or e-mail link.
5.	Possible legal protection.

There are an abundance of tips to improve the effectiveness of your E-Newsletter but the 10 basics I’ve highlighted are vital to produce an effective, quality, marketing E-Newsletter that your readers will value and enjoy and your business will prosper from.
