1. Focus on Your Strengths

We’re a bunch of contradictions – sorry to break it to you. Sometimes happy, sometimes sad; sometimes hopeful, sometimes pessimistic; sometimes childish and sometimes mature. We also have a whole load of strengths and weaknesses that affect what we do and how we do it, but tend to put more focus on our weaknesses and not our strengths.

A strength is something that you do consistently well or at a near-perfect level of performance – it’s something you’re just able to do, you’re hard-wired to do it well and you get an inherent satisfaction from doing it. It could be tackling and solving complex problems, empathising with people, having a lively imagination or being able to make the perfect omelette.

Focusing on what you do well rather than what you’re not so good at makes all kinds of sense. When you look at what you’re not good at you feel bad about yourself and your ability, but when you focus on and play to your strengths you’re guaranteed to get results, and can even eliminate any negative effect your weaknesses might have.

There was a guy I worked with who hated public speaking and recognised that it was one of his weaknesses. He worked as an advertising executive and as he climbed the ladder he found he had to do more and more presentations – he’d stutter, freeze, forget his point and not perform at his best at all. But when we focused on his strengths we found that he had amazing social skills, an ability to establish great rapport with people in no time at all and had a fantastic sense of humour. Using those strengths he was able to connect easily with each person in his audience, enjoy himself a whole lot more and to deliver presentations that had fun, humour and warmth in them. He used his strengths to overwhelm his weaknesses and went from strength to strength himself.

2. Set Things Up Ahead Of Time

Sure, there will be times when you can just head into something, do brilliantly at it and get the result you were hoping for (normally if you’re playing to your strengths), but other times you might blunder forwards, wing it and not get the result you wanted. Whatever challenges or opportunities you’re facing you’ll stand a much better chance of getting a great result if you set things up to succeed ahead of time.

So what exactly do you want to happen? What solution, outcome or result would be great? Get really clear on the outcome you want from what’s facing you and how it would feel to get the outcome you’re looking for. Then start breaking it down – what can you do to set things up so that your desired outcome happens? What needs to be put in place? What will help to make what you want to happen, happen? And to ensure the best outcome, what are you willing to do?

Whatever faces you, it’s possible to get the result you want by being crystal clear about the kind of result you want and by putting effort into setting things up so that it happens. Look at this way – you’re infinitely more likely to get your most wanted result by putting time or effort into setting things up ahead of time than if you don’t. Your choice.

3. There’s No Such Thing as Losing Anyway

What’s life all about, really? Getting a good job, getting married, feeling valued, having fun? It’s about different things to different people, but to boil it down I think it’s about doing the best we can to have, do and be the best for ourselves and those we care about. Sometimes it’s a struggle and sometimes it’s a joy, but what is constant through it all is our capacity to learn, develop and grow. Humans have an unparalleled ability to learn and adapt, which is exactly why we’re able to do the best we can and find ways to have, do and be more.

That’s why everything you do takes you one step forwards and it’s only by doing one thing, then another and another that the most astounding things in our world came about. As Thomas Edison said while he was on his 207th prototype for the electric light bulb – ‘I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward.’ He’s absolutely right – everything you do that doesn’t work out is another tick in another box and another step forwards, because you know one more way not to do something and what not to do next time. You’ll never get to 100% without going from 1% to 99% first.

In all that you do, whether it turns out how you wanted it to or not, there’s the capacity for learning. That means that it’s all part of the process and everything that you do and learn is an important step forwards.

Over the years I have always been a professional salesperson which has brought me into contact with many other sales people in a career spanning almost 10 years now. You see the key to building value into your product or service is in understanding how much time to spend and how far to push your customer before retiring gracefully and this is something many salespeople just never understand.

I will always remember the level of complaints I used to hear when one of the sales people came back to the office having not closed the sale at their appointment. Alot of salespeople fail to close the sale due to the fact that they regularly fail to build sufficient value which results in a lack of interest and of course no excitement for the customer to purchase the product or service on offer to them. Always remember people do not buy features therefore you must showcase and highlight the benefits of ownership to your product or service because this is what the customer will see as true value. As a sales person if you employ these values then you will never find yourself in a situation where your customer complains that your cost is to high.

I have seen salespeople who expose benefits after benefits of their product or service to their customer however they still have been unable to close the sale at their appointment. What you have now is two methods producing the same results. When you have a situation where both methods do not work the professional salesperson have to find success using the method below.

You see the key to that success is in my statement above where the salespeople expose benefits after benefits to the customer. However as a professional salesperson you need to recognise when you have created the need for the customer to purchase your product or service along with you having raised the customers desire levels enough for them to purchase your product or service. When you have done this you will then be a master at building value to your customer which means the cost will no longer be of any concern to your customer and a purchase will be just moments away.

In my final statement it is simple that you need to know when to stop which is when the customer is ready to purchase from you as a professional salesperson and those are signs only you can recognise from asking questions, listening to your customer and responding correctly.

Hello Fellow Entrepreneurs,

Just recently I have been thinking back over all the years looking at the changes and sacrifices I had to make in order to fully achieve the level of success that I now have and when doing this one of the questions I asked myself was what did I change and why.

The answer that came to mind was quite simply I had changed myself and my mindset which was always my way of thinking, I went from having a glass that was half empty to having a glass have full and this empowered me with the power of positive thinking.

Why did I make the change?

Some 9 years ago I was a double glazing salesman within the home improvement marketplace where I was responsible for visiting customers in their homes via pre arranged appointments which would last approximately three to four hours and would consist of a very strict sales process designed to leave the prospect with only one objection at the end which would be affordability.

Now when I first started in this position back in May 2001 I was 18 years old and rather immature to say the least, I used to look around at the other salesmen and when the manager would give anyone of them an appointment with a prospect they would be extremely excited and positive, bursting with enthusiasm to achieve the sale and that would be their mind focused but when the manager gave me an appointment I could not care less and would only go to that appointment because I had too.

What was the effect of this?

Well given my attitude and lack of excitement every prospect I was sat down with could sense that along with my lack of belief in what I was there to do, products I was promoting therefore as I didn’t believe in them neither did the customer therefore no sale was achieved and this went on for some four months.

Four months later I happened to be speaking with the sales manager and wondering where I was going wrong however due to my mindset I did not see anything wrong, at this point my manager asked me the following simple question and it was at this point I knew that I had to change and open my mind to possibility and desire.

When it comes to everyday life many of us spend alot of the time thinking about things, whether it be new ideas or just plain idle thoughts. Many people however dont realise that the thoughts that you have in otherwords what you think about is what you will attract into your life. It does not matter if these are good thoughts or even if these are bad thoughts as the fact is using the Law Of Attraction they will become your very own reality.

The Law Of Attraction is built around the principle of whatever you focus on you will end up getting. For example if you where to think “How Can I Get Out Of Debt” you are now focusing on what you want therefore you will attract ways to get out of debt.

You see the in order to understand the basis of the law of attraction you will have to start changing your thoughts along with what you focus on therefore instead of thinking things to yourself like “Why Do I Keep Getting Ill” you must start focusing on having all the wealth you desire and never ever focus on how much you do not like your full time job. A good idea is always to focus on owning your own business and with these positive thoughts will bring fantastic health for you.

Now that I have given you a very basic understanding of the Law Of Attraction, you should now see why becoming very wealthy is a struggle for most people thoughout the world. One of the most heard statements of all time is that the rich always get richer and the poor always get poorer. However the reason behind this is the thoughts of the individual and this is where the Law Of Attraction enters back into it all. Most of the people I have come into contact with who have wealth and money are usually thinking about what they can and will do with their money, best ways to use their money and of course they then think about what they will do with the more money they are going to attract into their life. Then when it comes to those people who tend to think about not having enough money in their life usually keep attracting not enough money in their life and this is why only 1% of the population earn over 90% of the true wealth in the world.
